Where the plumeria blooms
Nov. 11th, 2014 11:10 amThis weekend was relatively quiet, as I was spending most of my time preparing for two upcoming events:
1. My trip to Tokyo with
megory.
2. The release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion.
You know what makes me extra crazy? Both events are scheduled to happen ON THE SAME DAY. (Blizzard, why are your expansion releases always so inconvenient for me? WHY?)
At least I may get a little time with the expansion in the morning before I have to leave.
In other news, the plumeria tree that I grew from a cutting that I bought over four years ago has finally bloomed. It has a bit more yellow in it than I expected, but I'm not going to start complaining.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention last week that I splurged on a ticket to see Neil deGrasse Tyson in San Francisco in February. I missed getting a ticket for his first appearance in January (the advertisement went to my spam folder), so I jumped on the second chance when I saw it.

Date: 2014-11-12 05:52 am (UTC)I'm only going to be there for three days, so I don't have much to pack. As long as I remember my shopping list, I'm good.
Ooh, you'll have to tell us about the NdGT lecture.
I'll be sure to do that!

Date: 2014-11-12 12:02 am (UTC)I am a little sad that I was so out of the WoW loop for a long time that I didn't realize how soon the pre-expansion patch and then the expansion were coming, and I missed my chance to finish a few things. No legendary cloak for me! (Though, honestly not sure I would have ever finished that quest line to begin with. Will I ever like raiding?) Never got to kill the whelps in UBRS, either.
Oh well! New things coming soon! And have a fabulous time on your trip.

Date: 2014-11-12 12:59 am (UTC)The oddest is that the Cataclysm expansion actually changed the geography of the world that existed before it - I have never seen the unaltered features of that world, e.g. Stormwind before it had a bunch of war damage carved out of it.
Occasionally they insert a character who has the ability to manipulate time - if you talk to that NPC, you can jump back to a previous version of a particular zone. I kind of wish they would do that with everything they've ever changed, but it is selective.
Somehow it's harder knowing that there is stuff I COULD have done and didn't. Sadly, I didn't see the various fan articles about "what to do before Draenor" until just this week, or I might have gone and done some of this stuff sooner.
Games, like many things, are hard!

Date: 2014-11-12 05:55 am (UTC)Mainly I've been working on getting more mounts. Right now my goal is to get the
Voltronjewelcrafting lion mounts. They're seriously expensive. And have a fabulous time on your trip.
Thanks!
