The English club met yesterday. The girls chatted a bit about my otaku-ness...or, rather, gave me advice on how to avoid being a complete otaku. The advice ran as follows:

Step 1: Take your book and read it at a coffee shop.
Step 2: Glance up from the book occasionally and check out the staff.
Step 3: If there are any cute guys, flirt with them.

I worked on the yukata after I got home and managed to sew both front panels to the back panels. I then took it to work today and stitched down the seam allowances. Yay, progress!

When I arrived at my desk, I found a bag of persimmons waiting for me from the superintendent. That was very nice of him, but...what the heck do I do with persimmons? ^_^; I will have to search through my cookbooks to see what can be made from them.

On the topic of cooking...Itou-ke no Shokutaku ran a recipe today for cheese bread made from potatoes. It looked really good...but then, you just can't go wrong with potatoes and cheese.

I'll have to try them. I've only ever had them as a prepared dessert (twice?) when I've stayed at ryokan, so I'm almost completely blank on the possibilities.

and i LOVE the icons! thank you!

You're welcome!

Try the internet for recipes?

I can't remember ever tasting a persimmon. I don't have a clue what they taste like. Now I want to know.

Cheese bread made from potatoes sounds very good.

I will probably do that.

Cheese bread made from potatoes sounds very good.

Doesn't it? For the record, here's the recipe:

100g Potatoes (about three small potatoes)
10g Flour (about 2t.)
40g Starch (the recipe calls for potato starch, but cornstarch would probably work)
40g Grated Parmesan

Slice the potatoes and boil until soft (they should have started to disintegrate). Strain out the water and put the potatoes into a mixing bowl. Immediately (while still hot) add the other ingredients and mash together. When mixed and cool enough to touch, form dough into eight balls. Align on a cookie sheet and bake at 180°C (~360°F) for 15 minutes.

For variations, add things such as basil, sesame, curry powder, or extra cheese to the dough.

I haven't tried this recipe yet, though, so I can't vouch for how it turns out.
