Hail and farewell

The one nice thing about working the late night shift is that my afternoons are free to do things with people. My neighbor was able to come over a couple days to watch TV and learn how to crochet.

The big news of the week is that the Chief sent out an email saying that she got a job elsewhere. She'll be leaving in about 2 weeks. I don't yet know what this means for my schedule...will we have to keep going with the trial period we agreed on, or will the whole thing be tossed out the window by whoever is chosen as the next Chief? So many questions.

My parents arrived here late Wednesday evening for an extended visit. I am looking forward to spending time with them and doing lots of things together.

Well, the Chief leaving sounds like a blessing all round. I hope they cancel the trial thing as soon as possible.

She's going elsewhere in CBP. From the sound of her position, I'm guessing it's in Washington DC.

I also learned today that her boss (the one who hired her and who has been supporting all her crazy ideas) is also taking another position elsewhere. He said the position will last for 3-6 months, but he didn't say whether he would come back to SF afterward.
