Home for the holidays
Dec. 2nd, 2015 07:00 amI had to work on Thanksgiving this year, but some of my fellow dog-owning gamer friends offered to drive both me and Rei to their house for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was good, and Rei enjoyed playing with their pit bull mix (mostly stealing her chew toys). However, he doesn't seem to want to go potty while on leash, which turned out to be a bit of a problem because he ended up peeing on the carpet in their apartment. I took him out for walks three times during the evening, but although he would sniff all the grass and bushes and poles, he waited until he got back to the apartment to go. Silly puppy.
Friday, I took the butternut squash puree that was left over from making the empanadas for work and turned it into a batch of mini-cheesecakes. I took that over to the neighbors' house for a game night. We ended up playing 4 different games, so that was a lot of fun.
I also did a bunch of holiday sale shopping, mostly online, though I did go in person to a couple of stores where I wanted to browse. I ordered a couple of big-ticket appliances that I anticipate will help me process next year's harvest, particularly since I plan to grow a few tomatoes again in the summer instead of watermelon.

Date: 2015-12-03 04:26 pm (UTC)I love how easily portable they are. Also, they freeze really well, so I can make a big batch and preserve some for later.

What kind of appliances did you get?
A food dehydrator, a mandoline slicer, and a Vitamix with an extra dry blade for grinding grain.
