Digging deep
Nov. 12th, 2015 02:10 pmNot much has been going on here in the past week. The Chief refused to compromise on her schedule, so the union took our issues over her head to the Director. He was rather surprised to learn that she had completely ignored his instructions to do a temporary trial to gather data before devising a permanent schedule. He gave the order that we should try the chief's schedule for 90 days AND try our proposed trial schedule for 90 days, then crunch all the numbers before proceeding with anything permanent.
We're not thrilled to be stuck working dismal shifts for months, but we're certain that once we put all the data from the trial period together, we'll be able to prove our points. This is our chance to show that we know what we're talking about.
Meanwhile, Rei has discovered that he enjoys digging. He turned one of my empty raised beds into an archaeological site. ~_~

Date: 2015-11-13 11:38 am (UTC)Fortunately, the one that's planted right now has a great big trellis in it; I suspect that's keeping him out. I'm probably going to have to get a bunch of rolls of garden fencing when I plant in the spring.
Maybe, if you decide to protect the other beds, you could leave one for him to dig up.
I don't have the space in the garden for a puppy sandbox, unfortunately. I might be able to get a plastic wading pool and fill it with sand for him, though, because I could put that on the concrete area where there's no garden.

I'm sorry you'll be stuck with a crummy schedule for the next few months, but I'm glad the Director at least is willing to look at your data and compare schedules.

Pretty much. I'll work the first month of the second trial, and then I'll be gone.
