This is a game revolving around people and events related to Oxford University. I think the theme is unique and the art is atmospheric. It seems a bit dry to me, though I'd be interested in watching a gameplay video.

Honorable Mention:
Wild Edible Poker Cards

Status: 9% funded

This project is a deck of poker cards printed with pictures and information about wild plants that are edible. While I admire the educational nature of these cards, the deck has one huge flaw: The back of each card describes the plant on the front. That means, with familiarity, your opponent can read the backs and figure out exactly which cards you are holding. Thus, the cards are essentially useless for most competitive games.

Oh, the wild edible plant cards are cool! I wonder if my mom would like those?

I think I would need to see them in person to know if the backs of the cards would be a problem or not. You'd have to memorize them, for one thing, and for another, you'd have to be able to read the print (it doesn't look very big).

(My honorable mention for this week is Pandante. I wish I loved poker so I could justify the $300 set, because pandas!)

It might depend on whether you use them as flashcards, in which case there's a higher probability of memorizing them. Also, I suppose you could always put them in opaque card sleeves if reading the backs ever became a problem.

Yeah, I didn't even bother clicking on that one, I hate poker so much. But pandas are nice.
