All systems go!

spacealien_vampThis week we had cause for celebration, because we finally got the lights, plumbing, and gas all connected in the kitchen. We are finally able to use the stove, sink, and dishwasher. In fact, I ran the dishwasher for the first time just yesterday.
Dad is now putting the finishing touches on the kitchen, starting with the tile backsplash. Once that is done, there will also be a decorative bamboo backsplash installed (where the wooden placeholder is in the picture). A stone fabricator will be installing the granite counter in the baking nook, though I'm not sure when that will be happening. Finally, the new refrigerator should be delivered tomorrow. Once that's taken care of, the kitchen will be pretty much complete.
It's nearly time to start planting the fall garden. I have some cabbage in the back, and some kale seedlings to plant in the front yard. In a couple weeks, I should be ready to plant the peas and chickpeas. One of the blueberry bushes is already beginning to bloom in preparation for next season's fruit, and my fall blackberry crop is ripening.

Date: 2013-10-01 06:21 pm (UTC)He was laying out bits of the tile design on the coffee table, which meant we couldn't use it for anything else. He finally got all the pieces cleared off today and announced, "Now we can play games again!" ^_^ (He's really hooked on Dominion.)
