Pulling weeds and picking stones
Nov. 1st, 2011 08:03 pmI spent nearly all of my time this weekend weeding the front and back yards, and I barely made a dent. On the bright side, I got my two empty vegetable beds ready for planting some winter cover crops. When I get the chance, I'm going to plant some winter rye and clover in them, and hopefully that will give the weeds some competition during the rainy season. Also, the peas and fenugreek are beginning to sprout, which is exciting.
I finally harvested my summer cabbage, though I haven't eaten it yet because I haven't had time. The potato vines are dying down, so I'll probably harvest them as soon as I get a chance. It looks like it's going to start raining by Friday, which means I should dig them up before that. I picked all the remaining green tomatoes from my tomato plant to make tomato jam...yet one more project that will have to wait until I get some spare time.
The window treatments that I ordered are supposed to be delivered Thursday morning. It will be nice to see them after waiting over a month.

Only in my head. I don't need to subject my neighbors to random vocalizations.

The one over the door to the backyard will be installed on Thursday, so I can get pictures of that. The ones for the windows will have to wait until after my parents get here, because they can't be hung until the window trim is modified.
