After two and a half months, Benny and I have officially graduated from the training program. My parents were able to attend the graduation ceremony, where they had a chance to meet Benny in person. I flew home on Friday, and now I'm working on settling back in. Originally Benny was going to be shipped here on Tuesday, but the date has been delayed by a week, so I won't get to see him for a while. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be doing all week without my partner.

Thanks to my apartment manager, who watered my plants while I was gone, all of my plants are still alive. Some, like the chocolate mint, are really thriving. My two Japanese maple trees look gorgeous with their new spring foliage, and my Rodney fuchsia is blooming. I even had a few ripe alpine strawberries waiting for me.

Yesterday I attended the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show in San Mateo. I spent several hours there, and I bought more than I probably should have, though less than I wanted. (If I had a contract signed for the house I'm trying to buy, I'm sure I would have gotten at least twice as much...) In total I picked up two flowering plants, one tomato plant, one goji berry plant, two packets of vegetable seeds, five varieties of seed potatoes, five fabric grow bags (with handles) for growing the potatoes, and two plumeria tree cuttings. I also signed up for a delivery from Farm Fresh to You, a Community Supported Agriculture program. We'll see how that works out.

Now I need to get started on unpacking my suitcases...

Congratulations, again. You and Benny did a lovely demonstration.

I'm so glad your plants were doing so well when you got back. It's great that you got to attend the flower and garden show right away. You've probably got everything set up already. I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price of the fabric grow bags. I hope the CSA program works out great.

Not quite. I planted the plumeria cuttings, but I'm saving the potatoes for next weekend.

I've started harvesting the mint and some of the scented geranium leaves, to cut down on the crowding. I have a lot to go, though.

I hope the CSA program works out great.

I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Hurray for graduation! You and Benny look so dapper in uniform. It's sad that he won't join you until next week, though.

That was really nice of your apartment manager to take care of your plants! It would be too sad if you lost all or most of them during your training.

Thanks! I just learned that Benny is actually an AKC-registered purebred with 7 champions in his pedigree. No wonder he poses like a show dog!

It's sad that he won't join you until next week, though.

It definitely is. Even my supervisor was shocked when he found out today.
