I tried to be lazy

I really did try to sit around and do nothing as much as possible this weekend. Despite my best efforts, however, I managed to accomplish a few things, like laundry and vacuuming. (How did that happen? I'm still not quite certain.)

I also went out shopping, and inevitably spent some time wandering the craft store again. I bought a book about how to reuse the fabric from kimono to make Western-style clothing. (It's tricky because the panels are all long and narrow.) I have a gorgeous haori that I bought cheap ($8) at the flea market in Kyoto last month that I know I'm never going to wear as-is, so I was thinking about reusing the fabric for something that I will wear.

How cool! I didn't know that there *were* flea markets in Kyoto. How did we ever miss that in 2000? I did notice once while surfing the web for "kimono" that used kimonos are sometimes sold in bales. I think it is for people to reuse the fabric. Sometimes, though, people who have bought them by the bale offer them for sale by the piece over the internet for very reasonable prices.
