<breathes huge sigh of relief>

My internet and TV are finally all hooked up. It really would have been difficult to wait much longer.

Work at the airport has been going well. It's amazing how many different kinds of food and animal products one can encounter when opening luggage. This past week we had an abundance of pigeon, for some reason. And even the senior officers were astounded by the drink holder made out of a male kangaroo's nether region.

I'm interested in seeing what will be featured on ABC's upcoming series about Homeland Security. (Apparently it was inspired by the Australian series that I saw a commercial for while I was there on vacation in the spring.) No doubt it will focus on some of the more exciting/sensational aspects, such as Border Patrol, but I'm crossing my fingers that Ag Specialists will show up in it somewhere. Maybe a bit of Beagle Brigade cuteness?

Now I must be off to check out which channels I get...

I don't know how you endured it as long as you did. (Also, poor kangaroo!)

Hooray! We're glad the books lasted, and we're glad you have TV and internet.

I'm always glad when it's only food and animal products you find. I shudder to think about the dangerous things.

The pigeon really is surprising. I wouldn't be so surprised to find it in people's homes as poor as the economy is becoming, but I wouldn't expect folks to travel with it. ( I remember visiting a student's home once years ago, and her brother was eating pigeon, presumably that he had hunted.Things were pretty tough then for some people.)

When does the ABC Homeland Security series start? I hadn't heard about it before.

Some people eat it by choice. The ones I seized were from Egypt, and were carefully baked with rice and vegetables inside as stuffing. I also saw some that were commercially packaged in a box, from Asia I believe.

It's hard to take away people's food, particularly when it's clear they put a good deal of care into preparing it. They just don't understand that some things must be confiscated even though they're cooked. They think that cooking it makes it okay.

It starts January 6th. Remember when you visited me in Maryland and we saw the commercial for it?

I need to make myself some kind of CBP icon...

That'll be cool. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Do you want any pictures from what we shot in Maryland? How about all those things on your bed after graduation...gloves, etc.?

I feel your pain with the long wait for internet and TV...I ran into a lot of issues getting it here (they require a UK bank account to get stuff like that here...and it took a few weeks to get my banking set up). I had to wait almost a month...it was pretty awful...it's great when you finally get it though.

Just say no to life without internet and gaming. It's no way to live!

Thanks! I just have to work on getting myself geared up so I don't become too much of a burden on everyone else.
