Well, skirted, at any rate.
I started this morning by trying to make a small zippered pouch, to get practice attaching zippers. It didn't turn out so well. Partly that's due to the fact that I cut the material slightly too small, so there wasn't really any seam allowance to speak of. But a large part of the blame falls on the incredibly vague directions. Imagine origami directions that show you the starting shape, the finished product, and in between an arrow with the word "fold." Yeah, it was kind of like that.
I then proceeded to tackle the project of making myself a skirt. It's only three big pieces of fabric sewn together in straight lines, I said to myself. It ought to be simple. BUT! I neglected to calculate how freaking long it would take to HEM all that fabric. Yeesh. Thus, I'm up past my bedtime. I did get it finished, though, and it looks rather spiffy if I do say so myself. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.

Date: 2004-10-11 01:56 pm (UTC)Progress on the backpack front...I bought a small book on making stuffed animals...did you know you're supposed to sew their eyes on through the backs of their necks?! I think this is what makes the buttons pull inward rather than dangling on the surface of the fabric like buttons are generally wont to do. I never knew.
Trying to track down orange fleece for the blanket, now, that's proving to be tricky.
Makes sense!
Date: 2004-10-11 04:21 pm (UTC)You'll be a stuffed-animal maker soon! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!
