How to keep an applicant in suspense...

I'm sorry to report that I have not yet received a reply from any of the places where I applied, not even a no thank you. I've never been on the hiring end of things, but does it really take over a month to make a decision? There's one position that starts on June 1st, just two weeks away, and still not a peep. I guess all I can do is keep looking.

The art class I'm taking along with megory is going well. The teacher liked the first painting I did, from a photo of a building at Blumen Hugel. The next critique session will be this Thursday. I just finished my painting this afternoon, an imaginary scene of a unicorn gazing at a wishing well under a full moon.

Tomorrow night my brother is taking me to watch Eddie Izzard perform in Detroit. That should be entertaining.

That largely - & usually - depends on the type of job you're applying for. For instance, a new upcoming project at a 3rd party call center might've been put on hold by the client, so intake for new call center reps (if needed) would be shelved, either temporarily or permanently.

Another reason could be budget (whatever the job). Say A is the hiring manager who desperately needs a researcher. He goes to HR, who agrees he needs to hire, & they see some applicants. But suddenly B, who's in Finance, tells A his department's budget is blown, or that they didn't factor in for a new headcount. If A is smart (& sometimes lucky), he may have some leeway in other aspects of the dept.'s budget that he can (legally) tinker with, thus getting him that researcher.

I agree with Wednesday; call them up & ask them for a straight answer, especially if it's a place you really have an interest in. A "no, sorry" this time doesn't mean that particular door will close forever. (And I do believe in luck & timing too.) Good luck!
