Last-minute packing update

I don't really have a lot of time, but I needed to take a quick breather, so I decided to post about my status.
Last week I boxed up everything to be shipped home, and the moving company picked up the boxes (all 46 of them) on Wednesday.
Since then I've been seeing friends and co-workers to say goodbye and sorting all the trash in my apartment. I carted several bike loads of reject-pile manga to Book Off (for a grand total of $35), and the rest is going in the recycling.
Sunday I spent tossing all my burnable garbage (to be picked up Monday morning). That was rough. It's hard to throw out things that were gifts or have memories attached.
This morning I put out the plastic trash and the recyclable books/magazines. After those are picked up, I'll be putting out the non-burnable garbage for tomorrow's collection. This is a HUGE undertaking. I'm tossing pretty much everything that's left in my apartment, with the exception of the rental items. Luckily, I was able to get the used furniture store in town to agree to come pick up my sofa bed and coffee table this afternoon.
My two suitcases that will be checked are all packed and ready to be picked up by the delivery service and sent to the airport. I haven't bothered to weigh them. If they are overweight, I'll just pay the extra.
I'm going to be cancelling my internet connection soon, but I should still be able to check things from the hotel in Tokyo if I need to.

Date: 2008-03-25 02:16 pm (UTC)I'm not even the one moving, and it makes me sad to think that that apartment will no longer be yours.
Safe travels. I've been trying to think of something I might want from Tokyo, but I'm overwhelmed with reading as it is... can't think of anything that can't wait until the next trip (whenever it may be).
Have FUN in Tokyo! How long will you be there?
