Next stop: Down under!

Things are really getting to crunch time here.
My vice principal came over yesterday with several school-related people and landlord-related people. They were trying to determine how much repairs and cleaning will cost after I move out and check on the rental items scattered about the apartment. Neither goal wound up being reached satisfactorily. The landlord people can't make any estimates until the furniture and everything is gone, because anything could be covering up damage. They were particularly worried about nicotine stains on the walls (why oh why do people smoke?!) and several suction cups that somebody had attached to the cupboards, presumably as a child safety measure.
Checking on the rental items didn't go so well, because although there is a list of things being rented, not all of the things in the apartment still have the rental company sticker on them. For example, a heater is listed...but there are TWO heaters in the apartment, neither of which has a sticker. Which one, if either, belongs to the rental company? I can't throw either of them away until this is determined.
After they left, I spent the rest of the afternoon tossing as much as possible. I bundled up at least six garbage bags full of stuff, and that's not even counting the things that didn't fit in bags, like the pair of skis someone left behind, or the old carpet from the hobby room, or the extra floor fan. It's like when I first moved in, except now I have emotional attachments to a lot of the stuff. I nearly started crying when I threw out the floor-chair that I used for ages while playing on my laptop (before
megory talked me into buying a regular desk and stool set).
And even after all that, it feels like I've barely scratched the surface. I still have tons of stuff in the kitchen to go through--half-used (or even unopened) bottles of food, stacks of plastic containers, two full utensil drawers, baking pans...I want to keep some of the more useful items, but most of it will have to go. Then there are the large furniture items, like the towel cabinet, the racks for drying clothes, the second bookshelf, and of course the sofa bed...
I haven't even started packing my manga.
Also, I ran out of kerosene this morning. I don't want to buy any more, because I doubt I'll use it up in the few remaining days I'll be spending in my apartment. But...it's SNOWING today. ;_; My poor little living room heater will have to suffice.
Anyway, I'll be leaving in a couple hours to head to the airport for my trip to Australia. I probably won't have internet access until I get back.
