Winding down the year
Dec. 24th, 2018 10:47 amFirst, I'll just mention that it's crummy to have to work over the holidays knowing that my paycheck is going to be delayed until after the shutdown. At least I have enough in savings that I can go for a while without the money.
On the bright side, my shiny new Tesla arrived in time for Christmas. The delivery itself was a comedy of errors. No one showed up during the delivery window on Thursday morning, so finally I had to leave for work, not knowing where my car was. Ten minutes after I left my house, the delivery manager called to say there was a delay with the final inspection. I told her they'd have to reschedule for the next day, because I wouldn't be home from work until late at night.
Later, another person called, and again I told him that they'd have to deliver Friday morning, because I wouldn't be home the rest of the day Thursday.
Around 3pm, I saw a flurry of messages and missed calls on my phone. It was the deliveryman, saying, "I'm here at your house with your car, when are you getting here?"
O_O
I called him back and told him I wouldn't be home, and the delivery was already rescheduled for the next morning.
I proceeded to get calls and texts from TWO MORE PEOPLE later that evening, asking when I would be home so they could deliver the car. DON'T YOU PEOPLE TALK TO EACH OTHER?!
I did eventually get it on Friday morning (YAY!), and played around with the settings. I took it for a spin to run errands on Saturday. Some of the features will take some getting used to (like the "regenerative braking"), but the auto-unlock and walk-away-lock features are nifty. (I would leave the car and take a few steps, then a few more, then a few more, watching to see when it would lock itself.)
My parents will be coming for their annual visit in a few days, so I'm really looking forward to that. I have stacks of games piling up that need to get played...
