The garden has been keeping me busy on the weekends. I managed to pit and freeze 5 pints of cherries, and there is now no space left at all in the big freezer. I processed 3 pints of cherry juice, and I have another bowl of cherry juice in the refrigerator waiting to be turned into jelly.

I need to cook more to use up what I have in the freezer, particularly the squash. To that end, I've been paging through a number of cookbooks and planning things to make on upcoming weekends. In particular, I've been feeling the urge to make more Japanese food. I was in Japan for over a week last month, which just made me crave Japanese food more. I have tons of recipes at hand, I just need to put in the effort to make them. It's hard, though, when processing the fruits that are ripe right now takes up all my time (not to mention the pots and pans and table space).

It will be even more urgent in another week or two when the tomatoes start ripening.
