Banished to the hallway

For the first time EVER I was assigned hall monitor duty for two class periods while the seniors take their final exams. Keep in mind that this building is designed like a motel, so the "hallway" has a roof and railing but is otherwise exposed to the elements. It is also in the shadow of the building, so it's chillier than being out in the sunshine. So, I put on my coat and gloves and set about patrolling the seniors' section of the hallway.
I only ever saw one student, who was coming in late for the exam. Near the end of my second assigned hour, one of the other teachers called me aside to an extra classroom and said...
Teacher: You don't have to keep pacing up and down like a cat or dog. Just come and sit in this room, then you can pop out to check the hall every ten minutes or so.
I kinda wish he had said "like a security guard," that would have been more flattering. ;_; But what's the point of a hall monitor that doesn't actually monitor the hall? I don't really get it. Oh, well, by that point I only had fifteen minutes left anyway.
One interesting incident from the past week is that a graduated student came to see me after school to ask for help as she studied for a test coming up in her college Spanish class. I thought that was quite touching, and I hope I was able to be useful.
At home, I've been spending most of my free time playing Warcraft. Glaya is now up to level 65 (out of 70), and she recently tamed a new pet dragon. Now I just have to come up with a name for him. My first instinct was to call him Ruth, but he doesn't really look like Ruth...and I can't think of any more white dragons off the top of my head. (I could also trade him in for a green dragon at a higher level--I know more names for green dragons--but the white is much prettier.) ...If only there were black dragons to tame...
[Secret note to self: Hajime is not the only Ryuudou brother.]

Date: 2007-01-29 07:09 am (UTC)True. It's just that I was mentally running through potential white dragon names, and I was going, "Nahta is black, Asagi is green, Hajime is blue...no white dragons..." I kicked myself afterward for forgetting that Hajime had brothers.
Too bad Kou is a snake and not a dragon.
My next idea is to base the names on Kill the Crows. Glaya's appearance is modeled after Saladin. I could name the dragon Kaja and then go tame a black owl to name Lucifard.
