Watch the days fly by

I haven't done much except play on the computer since my last entry. Last night three of us (me plus two of my brothers' girlfriends) made gnome mages on Warcraft and spent a couple hours leveling up together. Sometimes we just stood in a circle and danced together.
The results from the photo shoot came back. They look pretty good. Since this particular place didn't take digital pictures (gasp!), we'll have to work on scanning them to show one of my brothers, who has already gone back to Seattle.
I also spent some time translating the manual for the deluxe rice cooker I bought my parents for Christmas. I was supposed to translate recipes from the cookbooks I got them also, but they were otherwise occupied yesterday with various things. That will probably happen today. We did, however, try it out by making Thai coconut mango rice, which turned out well (and vanished quickly).

Yikes! no digital! I couldn't wait until the kids' pics were uploaded LOL (although I didn't bite for the immediate digital takehomenow pics which would have been extra). (pics now currently posted ;-) )

Date: 2006-01-01 06:16 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure I posted a link to it before, but I neglected to add the entry to memories. Here's what I used:
1 bag (300g) Thai jasmine rice
1 can coconut milk
1 can mangoes in syrup
3 T. sugar
1/2 T. salt
Cook the rice (we used the rice cooker). When that's done, heat the coconut milk and dissolve the sugar and salt in it, then pour it over the rice. Pour the whole can of mangoes in (including syrup, though you may chop the mangoes if desired) and stir until well mixed. Enough for a large family. The consistency is soupy at first, but if you let it sit, the rice will soak up the liquid and it will become more like pudding. It's good fresh or microwaved as leftovers.
When I cook it on my own, I usually halve the amount of rice, which makes about 3-4 servings, depending on how hungry I am.
