I'll be leaving for the English workshop in about half an hour. I think I'm all set.

I'm planning to base my class around "shopping." I printed, laminated, and cut out a bunch of fake money for the girls to use. I'm also taking a bunch of the things brought from the States (books, food, clothes, etc.) so that half the girls can set up "stores" and the other half can pretend to be shopping for souvenirs in America. The goal for the shoppers will be to buy as many souvenirs as possible with $100 (and this is WAY less than many of them spend on souvenirs during regular vacations), and the goal for the store owners will be to make as much money as possible. We'll see how it goes. It's a pretty standard lesson, though these students haven't done it in my class before. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] megory and [livejournal.com profile] jornada202, I have American coins to give out as prizes.

After that, I'll be giving two lessons preparing them for the speech contest tomorrow. The first lesson is about speech techniques--how to express emotion, speak loudly, use gestures, etc.--and the second is specifically to give them help with their own speeches--checking grammar, pronunciation, that kind of thing.

Typhoon #11 is supposed to hit sometime today. I'm glad I'll be indoors. I'm pretty far inland, so I'll escape the worst of the flooding, but I'll no doubt still get plenty of rain.

Your lessons sound super! Shopping could inspire anyone! I hope they had fun at the workshop.

I hope the speech contest is fun, too.

Already at #11, huh? It sounds like another active typhoon season.
