For supper on Monday, we couldn't think of anything we wanted to make, so we came up with the idea of going out to a vegetarian restaurant. It was several stops away on the train, but I was interested in trying it out. Unfortunately, when we got there, we discovered that it was randomly closed both Monday and Tuesday.

Since we had come all that way and were quite hungry, we decided to check out other restaurants in the area. After a bit of wandering around the restaurant floor of a nearby shopping center, we went to an Italian place that had a menu full of things we wanted to try. We wound up narrowing it down to fondue and four-cheese pizza. Afterward, we went to a dessert place that sells each dessert with free refills at their drink bar, though by that time it was getting rather late. We left just in time to drop in at the shopping center's manga store before places started closing. The neat thing was that the bookstore had streetsign-like posts (the kind you always see at crossroads in cartoons) pointing to the different sections.

Tuesday we spent pretty much the whole day sitting around the apartment. I started working on writing a timeline of events for G*Defend, which forced poor [livejournal.com profile] wednesday_10_00 to occupy herself by snapping a bizillion pictures of kitty body parts.

I am getting serious digital camera envy.

The event of the day was a strong earthquake that hit the coast up north of us. By the time the tremors got to Chiba, it was only level 4, but it was LONG. It lasted at least a solid minute. It felt as if the entire apartment was sitting on a waterbed.

That night we went out with a group of students from one of [livejournal.com profile] wednesday_10_00's English classes. They treated us to a meal at a tofu restaurant and three hours of karaoke.

This morning I continued to work on the GD timeline. I finished the last volume that I don't own just before noon, then packed and set off for home.

Welcome home!

So glad you two had a great time.

We heard about the earthquake here. We heard it was a 7.2 at its epicenter...but a whole minute! That's way too long and scary! We heard there might be a tsunami, but was there?

Karaoke...I miss karaoke. Three hours sounds just about right for a great evening. (The English students are probably adults, right?)

I don't know. We stopped watching the news after a while because they weren't showing anything interesting, just images of things fallen off of shelves and such.

Yep.

G-Defend timeline, yay!! Now all I need is the manga JLPT. ^_~

The earthquake sounds scary. I was once in a very small one in the middle of the night in California -- it can't have even been a 4. I couldn't believe how much it freaked out my sense of reality. The earth is not supposed to move under your feet. I can't imagine being in a much bigger one.

Glad you had a good time & are home safe!

Hooray for a good time being had by all and thank goodness that the quake wasn't worse where you guys were! New England is not renown for its quakes, but there was one here several years ago and, like [livejournal.com profile] sara_tanaquil it was unsettling. (It was actually up in Canada but felt all the way down here.) Japan not only has four actual seasons (FOUR!), it has exciting geological events too! ;-)

They should put that on their brochures...
