Canine Capers

spacealien_vampI heard back from my supervisor this week that I am officially enrolled in the March beagle replacement class (yay!). That means--barring any unforeseen delays (like the blizzard that hit Georgia the year that I went to get Benny)--Benny will be retiring the first week of March.
Saturday I went downtown to buy a new pair of more athletic shoes that I can use for taking Rei on walks. When I came home, I took him for a long walk along the Bay Trail down to the local dog park. He seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. He's mostly over his fear of cars, though he does still shy away if a loud one drives past.
In the evening, I started working on sewing Benny's Halloween costume. I picked up a pattern during a visit to JoAnn Fabric, and I sewed most of it while watching TV before bed. I put the completed fabric pieces away in the game room, then went to sleep.
I woke up Sunday morning to find that Rei had been a naughty boy. He had pulled my sewing supplies off the coffee table and chewed them to bits, including a spool of thread, the plastic handles of my good scissors, the last pattern piece that I hadn't finished sewing yet, and a pincushion. Then he went potty in the middle of the kitchen floor. ~_~ On the bright side, I guess his shenanigans wore him out, because he slept most of the day on Sunday and didn't get into any more trouble. Also, he didn't touch my brand new shoes (which were on the floor right next to the coffee table), so that was a relief.
