Drive by geeklisting

I've been meaning to post a more in-depth report of my trip, but I haven't yet been able to find the time. I have, however, finally posted my geeklist summary of the convention. Take a look if you're interested in the various games I saw and played...and bought.

the event was cancelled due to the owner of the game accidentally selling it

Ha! I didn't realize that was the reason. How does that even happen? Anyway, it worked out well for me since King of Tokyo ran over and I wouldn't have wanted to leave that.

Also: smart move on leaving the AEG games at home instead of the Dominion expansions! I've only looked at them a little bit, but I'm pretty skeptical about both Doomtown and Romance of the Nine Empires.

I wondered that myself. Maybe he got a really good offer for it that he couldn't pass up, and only remembered about the event afterward.

I'm pretty certain that Doomtown and Smash Up are going to turn into math trade fodder. I want to read more reviews of Nine Empires before making up my mind about it.

The explanation I got was somewhat confused, but as far as I could understand, the game is out of print, only a limited number of copies (or maybe even only the one?) were shipped to the con, and the one which should have been earmarked for the games room got into the "to sell" pile instead. They didn't realize anything was wrong until they were going through their list of game sessions to schedule/prepare and found that box missing. And I guess by then all the sale copies in the dealers' room were gone.

Anyway, I agree, it worked out just as well in the end.

Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense, I guess. Lucky for whoever got to buy it! (I mean, not that I'm that excited about it, but I bet whoever bought it was.)

Yeah, pretty sure I'm not keeping Smash Up. If it was the base game I would at least give it a try, but it doesn't seem worth it to pay for the base game when there are so many more things I want right now.

Thanks for a great geeklist! I was right there playing many of those games with you, but it was interesting to get more detail on how they worked for you (or not) in terms of game mechanics.
