Kickstarter Game Update: Week 8
Sep. 28th, 2013 05:39 amLooking back: Week 7
Game I Viewed:
Allegiance: A Realm Divided
Status: 24% funded
This is a fantasy strategy card game which has fabulous art as its main selling point. It looks like it would make a pretty good game, and it has raised a lot of money. The problem I see is that the funding goal is far too high.

Date: 2013-09-29 03:14 pm (UTC)That being said, I'm not sure I would back even if I thought it would fund, because I really need to cut back on my Kickstarter pledging. (That's also why I'm mostly likely passing on Lords and Ladies, Marrying Mr. Darcy, and Ninja Dice. Hopefully I don't have some last-minute panic and pledge in the final 48 hours.)
I'm also keeping my eye on Befuddled, because I like word games, but funding looks pretty unlikely for it.

Date: 2013-09-30 01:47 am (UTC)I just paid off the biggest chunk of my kitchen expenses, so my savings account is starting to look sadly slim. It definitely makes me think twice about pledging for anything.
On the bright side, I only have one more big expense (granite counter) before the end. It will be nice to be able to focus on saving rather than spending for a while. I'm definitely glad that a lot of the major expenses for the Japan trip are already paid.

Date: 2013-09-30 05:37 am (UTC)I know! I still can't wrap my head around the idea that I won't have a hotel bill at the end of this trip. If I can avoid overspending on manga or food while we're there, I'll be halfway to my budget goal for the next Japan trip...which is a very good thing if I'm going to Indiana this summer.

Date: 2013-09-30 05:42 am (UTC)Fortunately, I am mostly able to resist multiplayer, non-cooperative games. Even when the art is exquisite, like Allegiance. (Between this and The Gamers: Hands of Fate, I really wish I had seen Sara's MtG collection.)

Date: 2013-09-30 03:24 pm (UTC)It's not like it's a matter of public record or something, is it? Anyway, I agree it's not the greatest habit, but yes, I think that's what happens when you offer an early bird.
(I see that there are still 15 left, so I really didn't need to panic yesterday, but you never know!)

Date: 2013-09-30 03:38 pm (UTC)I don't think so. The creator of that individual project knows, but I don't think there's any public way to see everyone's withdrawn pledges. Successful pledges, yes, but not cancelled ones.
I see that there are still 15 left, so I really didn't need to panic yesterday, but you never know!
If I pledge for it, I'd probably go in at the $100 level. I would have to get that monk hero.

I did think about that, but I can always change to $100 if I decide I need the promo cards, and I can't go back to the early bird if I decide I don't (or if I just want to add the monk for $15--it's a better deal to get all of them promo cards, but $70 is still cheaper than $100, and I'm to the point where every dollar makes a difference in my budget).
I really had to talk myself out of the $175 early bird. (I do not need special dice and player mats. I do NOT.)

Aw, I should have pushed harder to make you guys check out the collection. It's pretty scary. :-)
