I was waiting to post, hoping I would receive some definite information about the house I bid on, but unfortunately I have nothing new to say. My real estate agent tells me that the listing agent keeps prodding the bank several times a week for a response, but everything is moving slowly due to the holidays. I'm hoping that I'll find out by next week, because after that things get tricky. On the bright side, the longer the process takes, the more money I'll have sitting in the bank for the down payment. Worst case scenario, I'll look at new places in the spring.

Seed catalogues have started arriving in the mail. I've been spending hours paging through them and making lists of things that I would grow if I had a yard. It's a shame that I can't actually order anything yet. Still, it's fun to look at the pictures. (There are pink blueberries? Wow.)

I did finally get the official notification about my upcoming K9 training. I already have my tickets and hotel reservations. I will be honest, I'm not looking forward to staying in a hotel for ten weeks with nothing but a microwave and mini-fridge for food preparation, but I am excited to be going at last. The surprising thing is that, when I was sent the class list, mine was the only name on it. Unless someone else has been added at the last minute, I'll be taking the class alone. I'm told that ordinarily they would likely cancel due to too few students, but they already bumped me once. I guess this means I'll have lots of individual attention, and I'll have my pick of the available dogs.

I was able to take a week off work to visit my family and friends in Michigan for Christmas. It was nice to have the chance to see everyone again. It was also great getting to visit wednesday_10_00 and her family for a day.

Bummer on the lack of news. :-( No wonder the housing market is still suffering if that's how banks operate when someone WANTS to buy a house!

I'll have to do everything via mail and email. Mainly I'm concerned about the inspection--I'd prefer to be present for it, but that probably won't be possible. If it comes to moving while I'm gone, megory said she'd be willing to come take care of it for me.

It's hard to know without tasting them. One seed company describes the variety as having a "mild and pleasant flavor," while another calls it "a sweet treat to delight both the eye and the palate."

"Bah" to the stupid bank for dragging its feet on the house >< Hopefully, it just means that something even better will be available when you get back.

I hope the training goes well - I would wish you luck, but I suspect that you won't need it =) (is there a decent bookstore near the hotel though - that's the important question ^_^)
