A passion for gardening
May. 6th, 2018 07:04 pmNow that the weather is warming up and spring is fully underway, the garden is keeping me busy. I've planted out a bunch of beans, squash, corn, and tomatoes, and I helped my neighbors with their garden as well.
While out walking the dogs a couple weeks ago, I met another neighbor at the end of the block who is as into gardening as I am. We've been swapping tips and seeds and such.
I'm excited to see that the passion fruit vine I planted last year has started blooming. It has formed long, draping garlands all across my grape arbor. I'm letting it have free rein right now, since I pulled out my old grapes and planted new ones this year, so they don't need the arbor yet. I'm going to have to trim the passion fruit back eventually, though, because it's taking over everything.
The big hobby project I'm working on right now is designing a winter hat based on the board game Pandemic. It's my first time doing a stranded design with two different yarns. It's also my first experience adding beads. The hat design has a speckled yarn as the background with the cities from the Pandemic map done in white in the foreground, with beads for disease cubes on the city bobbles.
Edit: Oh, yes, one of the other major events this past month is that the computer that I used for all my photo editing and graphic design projects died. The one I bought to replace it is a gaming computer called the Predator G3. I'm hoping that with the video card and processing power intended for video gaming, it should do well with all my Adobe software. Fortunately, so far the Windows 10 OS seems to work with the years-old installation disks, though it threw up tons of "invalid OS" error messages. I've tested it by using Photoshop to scan some items, and it seems to function correctly for that.
