Driving change
Dec. 7th, 2017 09:53 amThis past weekend was quite full. I took a couple days off work, and
gnine and
xparrot flew in to visit for a few days. We played a lot of board games, snuggled with the dogs, ate a lot of yummy food, and talked about manga.
On Sunday, after finishing up her internship here,
wednesday_10_00 headed home. I'll have the house (and dogs) to myself for a few weeks before my parents arrive. I will have to see if I can get some more cleaning/decluttering done during that time. I just got rid of a heap of purged manga; perhaps I can weed out more, or thin out my clothing collection.
One change at work is that we have finally had all of our old canine vehicles replaced with new ones, which has been in process for four years. They discontinued the use of the Ford Explorer SUV we had been using, and most of them ended up getting replaced with F-150 trucks, which I absolutely didn't want to have to drive. I had a stressful few weeks last month when they replaced my vehicle with one of those trucks, but I was able to swap its use with a different handler. This week, they finally replaced our last vehicle, and this time (thankfully) with a minivan instead.
I've spent the past couple days getting used to the new controls and console configuration. It doesn't help that the actual vehicle doesn't exactly match the manual. For example, the vehicle doesn't have a control lever for adjusting the side view mirrors, just a blank spot where the manual says it should be located. Quite an annoyance. I also haven't been able to figure out how to deactivate the daytime running lights yet, or what the glowing lock symbol under the radio menu means. I'm sure I'll get settled into it eventually.
I have another four day weekend coming up. I hope I manage to get things accomplished.
