My mulberry tree is still producing well. I've topped off a second quart of berries, and it's got more ripening. I took a bowl of them in to work on Wednesday to share, and everyone loved them. Two of my coworkers even said that they wanted to pre-order any jam I might make from them.

I harvested my first tomatoes of the season, from one of the volunteer plants in the front yard. On Sunday morning before work, I harvested my potatoes to clear the bed for some late beans. This year I was experimenting with zero irrigation for the potatoes, and they did fairly well, particularly considering that this past season has been a terrible drought. Desiree was the variety that performed the best, followed by French Fingerling.

I had planned to harvest the chickpeas and then plant the last of my summer crops this weekend...and then my weekend vanished. At the last minute (on Saturday), it was requested that I show up to work for a two-day seminar on Monday and Tuesday, which were supposed to have been my days off. So my weekend has been postponed until the end of the week, which means the rest of my gardening will have to wait for a while.
