In somewhat positive news about the bus situation, the bus company instituted a new short-route highway bus that will fill in some of the commuting gaps left by the express bus. It won't go all the way into SF, but it goes far enough to get me to work, so that's nice. It also terminates at the San Bruno BART station, which makes it a reasonable way to pick up the BART for transit to the East Bay (if I don't want to catch it at the airport), and also relatively convenient for shopping.

I made an attempt to schedule an appointment for a medical checkup here in town, hoping for a clinic I could reach easily by taking a single bus, but they weren't accepting new patients until the end of March. So, I called my old doctor from when I used to live in Millbrae and managed to get an appointment for the next day. It's just a pain to get to that office, because it isn't on any direct routes and I have to transfer. It's rather annoying to have to schedule ~1 hour for transit time just to get ~5 miles. I could bike faster, but I shudder to think of riding down El Camino with all that traffic and no bike lane. Anyway, that trip took up most of the morning on Friday.

I spent most of the rest of the weekend pruning the plants in my front yard and putting protective sleeves on some of the cards from my recently acquired games.

By the way, if anyone is wondering about all these posts mentioning board games and would be interested in trying something far more entertaining than the traditional standby games (e.g. Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Clue, Scrabble) but isn't sure where to start, there's a nice top ten list on Youtube from one of my favorite game reviewers. I can personally vouch for Lords of Waterdeep, Pandemic/Forbidden Island, and Dominion.
