Getting down to business

It was a short weekend this time, but an eventful one. My parents arrived on Thursday afternoon and got settled in. Then on Friday I had a structural engineer come over to look at the house so he could draw up a plan for removing the wall separating the dining room and kitchen. The remodel date grows ever closer.

Saturday I took the day off to get a few things done. My dad drove me around to some tile shops, and at one of them I was able to pick out a remnant slab of granite for my small countertop. (That place was MUCH more service-oriented than the other places I had visited last week.) We also stopped at the game shop, where they were having a 20% off sale, so I couldn't resist buying another game (Fresco). Then that evening we all went out to eat in Palo Alto.

My parents are already hard at work doing odd jobs around the house and yard. My dad is fixing my deck, which was damaged by earlier windstorms, and putting in a path around the side of the house. Meanwhile, megory is cleaning and thinking up organization solutions for all of my stuff.
