More fun sightseeing this weekend! My parents took me to the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival on Sunday. I've never been able to attend before, because the bus service to Half Moon Bay only runs on weekdays. (I wore the pumpkin dress that I bought previously at the Millbrae art festival, and it got me several compliments throughout the day.)

We left home early, heeding multiple warnings, and it was a good thing. Even though we arrived half an hour before the festival was scheduled to start, the nearest parking areas were already full. There were lots of interesting booths to see. Many had pumpkins or other fall-themed items on display, but there were plenty of other things as well. I was particularly drawn to a jewelry booth selling dragon ear cuffs (no piercing required!--hard to find these days). I was also tempted by their dragon cabinet pulls. I didn't buy much, but [livejournal.com profile] megory got me sushi soap as an early Christmas present. (The bamboo soap dish will go perfectly with my new bathroom vanity.)

Later, after returning home, I worked on harvesting my dry beans. I only grew a few square feet of each variety as an experiment, and I wound up getting roughly 1/4 cup of beans per square foot. That's not much of a yield compared with fresh beans, but on the other hand, they keep forever without expending extra energy for freezing, pickling, or canning.
