Acclimation
Apr. 10th, 2011 06:25 pmI couldn't help it. I had to make a K9 icon.
Benny arrived late Tuesday night. He was a little bit shaky coming off the plane, but he was his regular chipper self by the next morning. I spent the rest of the week walking him around the airport so he could get used to the smells and sounds. He'll be eased into working flights in a few days.
My first CSA shipment was delivered on Wednesday. It contained a mix of things ranging from items I buy for myself all the time (potatoes, avocados) to things I buy on occasion (apples, strawberries) to vegetables I would never buy on my own (broccoli, collard greens). It's quite an adventure searching for recipes. Today I baked asparagus onion casserole, and it turned out awesome. I'm just sorry that there was only enough asparagus in the box to make one batch.
On Saturday I met up with
mangaroo at the Cherry Blossom Festival. We shopped at Kinokuniya for a while, then walked around the various shops and street vendors. It turns out there's a small store in Japantown selling Hawaiian goods, and I was able to pick up a bottle of coconut syrup there. That was one thing I really enjoyed from my trip last summer, and I'm glad I was able to find it in such a convenient location.
