One week more
Apr. 24th, 2006 06:02 amThis past week went pretty smoothly. If there are any events to mention...I arrived at work Monday morning to be greeted with a Surprise!Solo Lesson first period. I had another solo lesson on Thursday, and THAT was fun because my team teacher had moved the students to a different classroom without telling me.
Friday was the official "school opening ceremony" doubling as the freshman-welcoming event, in which all the clubs perform to draw members. The English club students did a "three minute cooking" performance, in which they explained in English how to make an omelet while describing what they do in the club. (They didn't mention that what they've been doing during meetings recently is gaze out the window at the freshmen boys practicing football in the courtyard...)
There are a number of really interesting clubs. Unfortunately, I can never visit many, because I have to sit in the English club meeting. (There's a Japanese faculty advisor for the club, but he hardly ever shows up.) I decided that I'm going to try to visit other clubs on my non-English club afternoons...and see how much that freaks the students out. <g>
Next Saturday starts Golden Week, which is an entire week (minus two days smack in the middle, and whose bright idea was that?) of national holidays. Luckily for me, my school is giving everyone those two days off as comp days for other holidays we had to work. So, starting Saturday, I'll have the entire week off.
