Autumn makes an appearance

spacealien_vampIt seems the seasons have changed right on schedule this time. The weather has turned cooler, to the point that I had to haul out a blanket last night. (Or, rather, this morning when I woke up shivering at 3:45am.)
I haven't had anything to do over the past two days, as the students have all been practicing for the festival. I am, however, newly purple-haired in preparation for tomorrow.
I still haven't been able to get the calligraphy program to work. It does, however, work just fine on the laptop of the teacher next to me. She has the same OS as I do, just Japanese, so as far as I can tell it must be some kind of region/language setting conflict. All my other Japanese software works great, though, so I really don't know why this one would be different. I'll have to see how well I can explain this all in Japanese to their tech support...
I have also been poring over my new fonts, trying to decide which ones to install. Counting the English fonts, there are literally thousands of possibilities. I narrowed it down to, oh, over a hundred. I think I need to work on this for a while.
Next week, the second-year students will be leaving for their class trip. Ordinarily, this would mean that I have fewer lessons. However, one of the other teachers is taking advantage of the empty slots in my schedule to have me come in and give her third-year students some conversation practice. So I'm losing five classes but gaining four.
I've been informed that someone will question/interview me on behalf of Ritsumeikan, but I wasn't told when, or whether I should have a resume or anything ready. The head of the English department keeps giving me informational handouts (in Japanese) about TESOL...I don't quite understand why. I'm not certified in the area, and it's not as if I will be by next spring. Either they like the endorsements I already have, or they don't.
