White Day
March 14th (exactly one month after Valentine's Day) is known as White Day in Japan. On Valentine's Day, women give chocolate to men. On White Day, men give some kind of present back in return, also often chocolate. This year, I brought in a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies on Valentine's Day and handed them out. For White Day, I received one package of chocolates all wrapped up from a chocolate specialty store, plus a KitKat that someone left on my desk secretly while my back was turned.
Aside from that, I haven't been doing much. Final exams are done and handed back, so the students are just watching movies and such, waiting for the closing ceremony next week.
Trivia of the day: Japanese hot dog buns come with a vertical split down the center of the top of the bun, making it open like a V, rather than a horizontal split along the side. They are used not only to hold hot dogs, but also yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), which I imagine would spill out if the split were horizontal.
In Warcraft, my main character has acquired a Talbuk mount. This mount is only sold by a particular faction. In order to purchase the mount, you have to get the members of this faction to like you by killing their enemies, thereby raising your reputation. The requirement is to become "exalted" (the highest level of reputation), which takes killing literally thousands of ogres. I don't really want to see any more ogres for a while... My next project is gaining enough gold to purchase an epic flying mount, which goes much faster than my current gryphon. I'm 80% of the way to the purchase price. (It's VERY expensive.)
I'm also still leveling alts. Tip: Never try taming a new pet the same level as you are when you have resurrection sickness. >_<

And it's "pi" (pie) day here (3/14 as in 3.14). The students take pie to their math class, and everyone eats it. They also had a contest to see who could recite the most digits of the number. One of the middle schoolers could recite the first 121 digits.
Your mount is absolutely gorgeous. You worked hard and long for it. Good luck on getting the gold.
Tell the rest of the story about taming your new pet.

As you know, when you tame your first pet, you are level 10. Your pet has to be the same level as you are or lower, therefore your pet can't be more than level 10. The problem is, this means it only has low level skills.
In order to get better skills as your pet levels up, you have to find another wild animal that has higher level skills, tame it, and use it long enough to learn those new skills from it. After you do that, you can then train other pets with those skills.
I wanted to do exactly that with my alt Renkun. The problem is, he's a Horde character, and the only animals with upgrade skills for his pet boar are far, far away in Lakeshire. (That's the city where you drowned in the lake.) In order to get from Silvermoon (the blood elf capital city) to Lakeshire, he had to run through Alliance (enemy) territory. Getting through Westfall wasn't so bad, but when he got to Elwynn Forest, he got killed by some high level guards.
When you are killed, your ghost goes to the nearest graveyard. In this case, he died on the far west border of Elwynn, while the graveyard was at the far east border, in the direction he wanted to go anyway. Rather than run all the way across the zone as a ghost, resurrect, then run all the way back across enemy territory, I decided to resurrect in the graveyard. This saves time, but the problem is that it reduces all of your stats (such as the amount of life and strength and magic you have) by 75% for about ten minutes. This is known as "resurrection sickness."
Since he was on the east border now, I took him across to Lakeshire and located the animal I wanted to tame. However, I had forgotten that my life was reduced by 75%, so before I could finish the taming spell, the animal killed me. ;_; I had to wait for the resurrection sickness to wear off before I could tame it.

That was a lot. You are so brave to go through enemy territory unassisted at level 10.
But your awesome mount is probably worth it. Congratulations for not giving up.

Well, I was actually level 16 when I did that. And it's easier to go through enemy territory on a PVE server than a PVP server, because at least the players can't attack me (even though the guards can). But thank you.

Because it's GOOD.

Hey, what do you put in your yakisoba? I made some the other night, and it was really good, but I'm sure I was forgetting half the ingredients that should have gone in it. I remember you used the tofu crumble and cabbage (I think), but I can't remember what else.

Somebody could bring her takoyaki maker to the hotel and we could do it secretly.I need to get a power converter for my takoyaki maker so I can make some. :(That's pretty much it for the yakisoba. I sometimes put bean sprouts in it too, but it's not necessary. The real secret is to stir in a bit of mayo after you cook it, and sprinkle nori flakes. Mmmm. I wish there was a store around here that sold yakisoba sauce. T_T

Do you want me to pick you up some yakisoba sauce the next time I go grocery shopping in Boston? Though, I bet there's an online grocery in the US where you could order it yourself. (I wonder if the postal service would suspect it of being a liquid explosive?)

Hmm, I hadn't considered internet shopping (*shock*). That's a possiblity. And thanks for the offer, but I actually know where I can get Japanese food, it just involves a long drive and I haven't felt like yakisoba sauce was enough justification to go there. I might head out that way soon, though. (I wonder if they have onigiri there? I've been craving combu onigiri in the worst way lately.)
speaking of takoyaki makers...
