Timing is everything

Saturday morning I spent mostly doing last-minute cleaning. (The hobby room is still a disaster area, though, so I have declared it off limits.)

In the afternoon, I set off to pick up my parents from the airport. I left early, not knowing whether I would get good train transfers. As it happened, I was quite lucky and didn't have to wait for trains long at all. This meant that I arrived at the airport about an hour early.

Coincidentally, my parents' plane also arrived an hour early, so I barely waited a few minutes before they walked out the gate. We made it back to my apartment with no trouble, unpacked all the great stuff they brought me, and went straight to bed.

In the morning, since we all got up in the wee hours long before anything would open, I played Warcraft with [livejournal.com profile] megory for a while. At around 10:30 we walked to Moriyama Station, where they were selling tickets for a special bus that made a circut around the city to visit lotus gardens that are currently in bloom. We were lucky, because the lotus bus only runs six days out of the whole summer. We stopped off first at the Biwako Museum, then went to the first lotus garden. The flowers were absolutely amazing.

By the time we finished there, it was nearly 2pm, and we still hadn't had any lunch because the restaurants had been packed (and weren't serving much for vegetarians anyway). We got back on the bus and rode it back to the station. There we picked up some food at the supermarket and came back to my apartment for a very late lunch.

We were all rather tired after the morning's activities, so for the rest of the afternoon I showed my parents the first three episodes of Hanazakari. Then [livejournal.com profile] megory played her new character a little more, getting to level 8 before we were all ready for bed.

Other series you might enjoy are Death Note and D. Gray-man. I started reading the manga series, but I gave up partway through on both because they were too morbid for my taste.

Oh, I forgot to mention that they are both wildly popular, which is why I list them as possibilities.
